SEATTLE, WA - 7/21/19 -- One of the leading candidates for Seattle City Council District 3 Ami Nguyen is pleased to announce the newest member of her campaign team, her daughter Caitlyn! Caitlyn was born Saturday, July 20th at 9:45 am, weighing in at 6lbs 10 ounces.
Nguyen is delighted to have the opportunity to start her family in this beautiful city and put down root’s right next to the residents she hopes to serve. Nguyen had this to say about running for office while pregnant.
“There’s never a perfect time to have a baby, but I’m excited to be in a position where I have the chance to help build a more inclusive Seattle for Caitlyn to grow up in. I want her to feel safe walking our streets, have access to great educational opportunities, and create a city that is affordable so that if she chooses to remain in Seattle, that option is available to her. But right now I’m just happy that she’s here and healthy.”
This birth marks the first time in the history of Seattle City Council elections that a candidate has given birth while on the campaign trail! Nguyen is committed to breaking another milestone by becoming the first Vietnamese American to be elected to our city council!
Nguyen is grateful to be surrounded by her family and to have their support during the hectic period in her life. With the August 6th Primary Election quickly approaching, their support means everything to her.
